Testing a Class

I am busy working on a block of the month for it – would anyone like to help me test the block directions? Send me an E-mail and I will send you the secret link. I have to warn you though – I will be asking you to make 5 – 8 twelve inch blocks. (You could always make them out of shades of pink for Quilt Pink!)

Speaking of testing, there is a free class coming up at the end of the month at the Quiltbug. I am trying out all the different products for making half square triangles (Thangles, Tada Triangles, Triangles on a Roll and Triangle Papers). After the class, I will be offering the pattern which will include enough samples for YOU to try it out too. I’ll let you know how it goes:-)) Meanwhile, you can get a sneak peak at http://www.quiltbug.com/half-square-triangles.htm

In other news, the makers of the FabriCalc are now providing a free training video for its use. It’s included with new purchases, but if you already have your FabriCalc, you can see it at http://www.calculated.com/exports/8400/Movie2.asp

The Cotton Spice magazine is celebrating it’s first year in business with door prizes, contests and all manner of other free stuff. Visit them online at http://www.cottonspice.com

We recently received an E-mail from Quilt in a day. It said, in part, “In recent years PBS stations all over the country have been moving away from quilting programs. We believe this is unfortunate and has caused a lot of disappointment for quilters. We have decided to take the bull by the horns and work to bring our Quilt in a Day programming back to Public Television. In the next few months, we will be contacting program managers all over the country.

We are preparing to go into production on a new Quilt in a Day program for “Magic Vine Quilt.” The series will be 13 parts and will be available to PBS, RFD_TV, QNN, and Quilter’s TV by December. Eleanor will teach her techniques for applique, share antique quilts and discuss background information about the traditional pattern.”

Kudo’s to Quilt in a Day! If you would like to see more quilting programs on your local PBS station, give them a call and ask for them. They don’t know what the public wants if we don’t tell them.

More local news – I will be teaching at two retreats this summer. The first is a retreat being held in Pyramid Lake NY in August  and the second is being held at the Bayside Inn in Cooperstown NY the weekend of Sept 8. Bring your family to that one, we are staying in a motel right on the lake. The rooms are huge and have private balconies overlooking the lake so we are looking forward to a great time.

I will leave you with something funny  from You Tube: http://tinyurl.com/ywtecq
