A Mystery for 2007

Yes, we will be doing a mystery this New Years Eve! Since we have two days because of the weekend, I have made this one a little bit more elaborate. One of my personal criteria for mysteries is that they must always teach something and have an unexpected ending. I think this one fits the bill! I will be showing you an easy way to make flying geese and two ways for making half square triangles. Although you might *think* you know how the quilt is going together, I promise you a surprise at the end. I am making my sample now and it is really quite nice. It will make a 60 x 60 throw, which you could make bigger with additional blocks or borders. Look for an announcement next week.

(please note I am using the colors in the sample. You are certainly welcome to use your own!)

  • 2 1/2 yards dark blue
  • 1 1/4 yard yellow
  • 1 1/4 yard blue_yellow
  • nice sharp patchwork or applique pins.

Really Nice to Have
(but don’t buy them if you don’t have them, there are workarounds in the pattern)

  • 3″ Thangles
  • a mat which rotates
  • a small Quilt_in_a_day Flying Geese Ruler
  • a Lazy Girl No_Math ruler
  • a June Tailor Shape Cut ruler (This is a ruler that has slots in it that you cut through.)
  • a 3 1/2″ square ruler.
  • a walking foot

Please enjoy the holiday season – our best wishes from our barking, meowing and chirping household to yours!

I hate to tell you this, but #41 looks like me when I get up in the morning.
