I taught the 20 different ways to make HSTs at a retreat this past weekend. I was not surprised by the fact that none of the students could pick the same favorite. Or ANY favorite, for that matter:-)) We had great fun experimenting, though, and I will have some patterns available for everyone after the next retreat. That one will be held at Frost Valley October 31 – Nov 2 and it still has openings! I am only one of three teachers there. I will be teaching different methods of making HSTs. Here is the description:
“The Half Square Triangle Block is one of the basic building blocks used in making quilts. As you might expect, there are many, many different methods to make those blocks. How many? Join this class by Kris Driessen as she shows you at least 20 different ways! Bring extra fabric to try out these methods, then choose your favorite to make a quilt (pattern provided.) “
If you can’t come to the retreat, you can still purchase the tutorial. It’s available as an instant download for only $1.50. Methods covered go from traditional (with helpful notions) to innovative. 8 different rulers are shown as well as 3 different paper piecing methods and even some out-of-box ideas.
