Summer is a time for travel, isn’t it? Looking around, finding new places to visit. Here is a quilt made with the Corn and Beans block, hence the name
Bean There!
This is a sew-along project designed to show you little tricks for easy quilt construction. Since you are likely to finish it by fall, I am using autumn themed fabrics. Most of these are Connecting Threads Sale fabrics.
Here are my choices:
I will be using the Cat’s Cradle ruler to make the center of the block, but if you don’t have one, don’t worry. I will give alternatives. Here is a tutorial.
We will start May 10, so you can sew all Mothers Day if you like:-))

If you would like to start early, here are the 2-1/2″ unfinished HSTs that you will need:
- (40) Green/Background HSTs ,
- (16) Red/Background HSTs, and
- (24) Orange/Background HSTs.
If you are using the Magic Eight method of making HSTs, you will need:
- Background: (10) 6″ squares
- Green: (5) 6″ squares
- Red: (2) 6″ squares
- Orange: (3) 6″ squares
