# Games that Quilters Play – #QuiltBlockMania

The theme for this months #QuiltBlockMania is “Games”. Rather than just show you a block, I though I would share some games that I have played in guild meetings over the years. Be sure to check out the full list of designers at the bottom of the page.

To print this page, click the green *Print* button under the designer list. If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl + P (or Flower + P) to bring up the printer dialog box.

## Who are you?

Make a fabric picture of yourself! Everyone donates a piece of fabric with [lightweight fusible](https://amzn.to/4cfemZ7) already adhered to the back to a group pile. It can be any size. You will also need a 12″ square of fabric for your background and a sharp pair of [applique scissors](https://amzn.to/4cfiSqK). Choosing your fabric from the pile only, make a fabric image of yourself. If you would like to see some examples other than the one below, visit the [Proper Bostonian Quilters](https://properbostonianquilters.org/) web page.

## Canning Jar Creativity

Fill a canning jar full of scraps or things like UFO’s, charms, maybe a zipper or a selvedge. It doesn’t matter. Bring your canning jar to the guild meeting and swap it with another person. Your challenge is to make something out of the items they gave you. You are allowed to add one fabric, so you can make a quilt, a table runner, a purse – anything BUT a mug rug.

## Bingo

Change all the card tops from a set of BINGO cards to QUILT. When someone gets a bingo, they yell out quilto instead of bingo. Charge one Fat Quarter per card. If there is just one bingo, all the fat quarters go to that person. If there is more than one, the fat quarters get split up between the winners. You can buy [cards already made for you on Etsy](https://go.magik.ly/ml/3jmir/).

![Five illustrated quilting bingo cards are displayed, each featuring various quilting-related images like scissors, thread, needles, and quilt patterns. Large text reads “30 Cards” and “Quilting Bingo Cards Digital Download.”.](https://scrapdash.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Quilting-Bingo-Cards-e1772057385531.webp)

## Ugly Fabric Dare

Everyone contributes 1 yard of an ugly fabric. The yard is passed around while music is played. When the music stops, everyone must rip the yard they have in half and pass the half yard on when the music starts up again. The game continues until the last piece is 4″ x 4″. By this time, everyone has a lot of different fabrics in a lot of different sizes. The “dare” is to make something of it!

## Left, Right, Center

This is a classic Fat Quarter Game. You can [play with dice](https://amzn.to/3NExtlD), or make up a story in which the words, Left, Right, and Center are used. Either way, you pass Fat Quarters around the table according to the words (or how the dice lands) until someone ends up with all of them.
