# A Santa Mug Rug

Here is a paper-pieced Santa Mug Rug. Practice your paper piecing skills while making this cute little mug just in time for the holidays! Mmmm, won’t it be great to sit before the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and a couple of cookies?

## Paper-Pieced Santa Mug Rug

**Supplies**: fabric, batting, backing, and embellishments to make this little 6″ X 6″ mug rug.

If you are new to paper piecing, you will find these things helpful:

- An [add-a-quarter](https://amzn.to/2rMBTN1) or [add-an-eighth](https://amzn.to/33NDfUS) ruler to trim seams
- [Size 14 (denim) needles](https://amzn.to/33Kxlnx) for your machine
- [Very thin pins](https://amzn.to/2P7WL9s) or a [washable glue stick](https://amzn.to/2LkNny1) to hold your fabric in place momentarily
- A [seam ripper](https://amzn.to/2P2ualC)
- A [small iron](https://amzn.to/2rRK62a) – not a steam iron. An [iron finger](https://amzn.to/2RdXIzt) is always useful.
- A[ ](https://amzn.to/2Yeq52g)[small mat](https://amzn.to/2Yeq52g) and [18mm or 28mm rotary cutter](https://amzn.to/34MaqJU)
- [Scotch Brand removable magic tape](https://amzn.to/2YgUuNo) to repair rips in the paper. This tape won’t melt under the heat of the iron and is easily removed.
