Years ago, I was playing around with the Heart Die by Accuquilt. You may have seen the Lucky in Love table runner that I made with them. Here is another one, which is a free pattern from Accuquilt called Heart of My Heart. Now, you don’t NEED the die. You can get a heart shaped motif from any word processing program, or Electric Quilt. Accuquilt just makes the motif cutting process faster, easier, and more accurate.
You start by assembling all your pink scraps. BEFORE YOU CUT THEM OUT, you must adhere the back of the fabric to a fusible web. My personal favorite is Steam-a-Seam II because you can move things around even after you have lightly pressed the applique. After you have fused the web to the back of the fabric, THEN you can run it through the Accuquilt machine to cut your hearts.
For more details on using Fusible Web, read How to Applique Using Fusible Web.
Follow the directions on the pattern, or watch the video below. This is a fast an easy project that you will be able to finish by – well – next Valentines day!
