Pumpkin Spice Latte – A Mini Mystery Quilt in Three Dimensions, Clue One

Let’s Start with an Easy One

How to Make a Half Square Triangle Quilt Block using the Traditional Method

To create an HST block using the traditional method, place a 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ colored square right sides together with a 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ background square.

Half Square Triangle Graphic Draw a diagonal line on the back of the top square. Sew 1/4″ on both sides of that diagonal line. Cut on the line and press the seam allowance to the dark.

Square up the HST blocks to 3″ x 3″. Don’t skip this step!
