Castle Secrets Block of the Week Quilt Mystery Clue Four

Secret Connections Block

This is a Quilt-Block-of-the-Month Mystery series. It starts today! Clues will be presented every Sunday from 6/4/23 until Labor Day. It is a two color (plus background) quilt that finishes about 90″ x 90″. Look for a list of clues at the bottom of this page. To print this clue, use the green Print Friendly button below the clues at https://scrapdash.com/castle-secrets-connection/. If that doesn’t work, try pressing down the CNTRL button and the P button at the same time.  Or the Command button and the P button if you are on a Mac.  That should bring up the printer dialog.

Just a reminder: Anyone who sends me a picture of their quilt in progress or finished, gets a free copy of the professional pattern after the mystery is over. Offer expires 10/1/23. Send your pictures to phoebemoondesigns@gmail.com.

Clue Four: Time to Make a Secret Connection

This is a fast clue to give you time to catch up on all those Flying Geese Quilt Blocks.

Assemble:

  • (12) 2″ by Width of Fabric Background Strips (leftover from the last clue)
  • (6) 3-1/2″ by Width of Fabric Chocolate Brown strips

I changed the total number of strips above on 7/2 in response to a suggestion that accommodates a smaller WOF.

Sew a 2″ wide Background strip to each side of the 3-1/2″ wide Chocolate Brown strip. Use a walking foot if you have one. Your feed dogs will try to pull the bottom fabric through the machine just slightly faster than the fabric on the top. A walking foot will prevent this.

If you don’t have one, pin carefully and ease to fit if necessary. Press the seams toward the Chocolate Brown center strip. Cut these strips every 6-1/2″ to create (6) Connector units. You will need (32) for this project.
